Here are our Top 5 pick of the bridal trends coming in at 2023 at Vicki’s Bridal Boutique. Everything from dresses to accessories, shoes too veils, we are going to look at it all.

Pearls!

Let’s start with a classic something that you probably have seen pictures of your Grandma wearing, but guess what, they are back! Pearls are on shoes, veils, hair accessories, jewellery or even your wedding dress. So whether you are borrowing your Grandma string of pearls or adding them in to your bridal look as you're something new, pearl is a trend that is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Corset bodice

The corset bodice is a trend that we started to see coming through in 2022, but in 2023 it is in full swing. Whether it’s a top to team with a bridal trouser or corset bodice on your ball gown, this is a great way detail to give an ultra feminine look without going down the floral route. Alternatively, a great way of giving something floral a little more of an edgy look. Several of our designers have been creating gorgeous bridal looks using this corset detailing, each one used differently to create a very different look. So watch this space.

Over Skirts

The Overskirt, now this must be the trend of the moment. With so many brides looking to create that two in one look for their big day, this is the perfect solution. Allowing you to have a ballgown look for the day and then something a little slinkier to dance the night away. We love our tulle overskirt Bowie by Freda Bennet, which works with so many of our wedding dresses from Marla by Freda Bennet or Storm by Kelsey Rose. Watch this space - definitely something Megan is considering for her big day.

Subtle Shimmer

We have all seen the next trend be a big hit amongst the celebrity in 2022 with the likes of Stacey Solomon rocking the subtle shimmer. Whether you are doing this like Stacey with a glitter tulle or have the iridescent sequins within the lace detail of your dress, this is a great bridal trend to unsure that you sparkle your whole wedding day long. One of our newest arrivals, Rosaville by Freda Bennet, offers this look perfectly with a full sequin underlay, giving you a gorgeous subtle shimmer. If a dress full of sparkle is a bit much for you, then going for a glitter tulle veil or overskirt could be a great alternative.

The Statement Accessory

Whether you are going for a statement pearl earring from IJ Avenue or a clay flower hair accessory from The Bobby Pin, using a bold accessory is a great way to add a little drama to a simpler bridal look or just simply add more drama!! Because let be honest, you can never have too much with your wedding look!! We love the way Ellis Bridals uses statement headbands to create a fashion forward look with a classic silhouette.

New Year, New Designer! And we are so excited to introduce you to Freda Bennet. We first met the lovely ladies Jane and Christine at Freda Bennet back in September last year at Bridal Week. They were a designer that had been mentioned to us a few times and as soon as we walked onto the stand we were giddy!!

Freda Bennett was established in 2019 By Jane and Christine, who have a wealth of bridal experience, which is clear from their collection. They understand that not every bride falls into either the traditional or fashion-forward box and have designed dresses that allow brides to sit between the two. By using gorgeous one of a kind fabrics and detail placement on those classic bridal silhouette we all know and love.

‘Freda Bennet focuses on designing for real women, weaving together femininity with strength, understanding each bride’s desire to find the balance between timeless and trendy.’

Freda are also able to help our brides create their perfect wedding dress with bespoke tweaks from sizing to skirt changes, switching fabrics to adding sleeves. Jane and Christine are their to help. With the offering of bespoke changes and a collection that allows brides to layer and change up their bridal look, with over skirts, dresses or accessories, there is a real sense that Freda just wants to give brides the freedom to find their own bridal style.

At Vicki’s Bridal Boutique, we have a real passion for British Designers, and Freda Bennet is certainly no exception. We are so excited to have their gorgeous collection in the boutique. You can view our stunning collection on our collection page https://www.vickisbride.co.uk/freda-bennet

We love nothing more than receiving our brides photos from their big day, seeing them look stunning in the perfect dress that we were able to help them find.

Beth had been in touch with us for a while on Instagram, being a local bride she had been following us and the set-up of the boutique. Armed with a list of dresses that she had her eye on for a good few months, she came to us at the end of the summer in 2020. It was lovely to finally meet her properly, after having chatted so much over Insta. We had the privilege of helping Beth find her wedding dress, shoes and rings, so we thought rather than us tell you about her big day and the journey with us, why not get it directly from the bride herself. So we sent a couple of questions her way…

Why did you choose to come to Vicki’s Bridal Boutique?

I chose to come to you for my dress because I wanted to keep as much local as I could. I had been following your Instagram (@vickisbride) for a while and saw beautiful dresses and thought I would give you a go first!

What surprised you most about wedding dress shopping?

How many different styles of dresses you had and how the dress I had in mind before coming was completely different to the one I chose. All thanks to you suggesting my Mum and Made of Honour pick a dress they liked for me too… I chose my Mum's favourite.

How did you know it was the one?

I loved the detail and I felt it suited my figure. I could picture myself in it at our venue and it fitted in with our boho meadow theme perfectly. Not only that, but I also needed something that would be practical for when my children wanted picking up/feeding.

Beth went for Danielle by Nieve Couture, teamed with the super comfy Oakley trainer. She also finished her look off with a gorgeous flower crown created by local Tenterden florist Flower Craft.

Best bit about your day?

There were two best bits for me… I’m sure all brides say this, but walking in and seeing my husband to be with our son. The barn looked beautiful and just how I had imagined.

Secondly, when my Mum took the boys home to bed!! Haha! I could let my hair down and dance all night to our brilliant band and DJ with my best friends.

What words of advice do you have for Brides-to-be before choosing their dress?

Be open-minded and try different styles because there might be a dress you would never have considered that turns out to be the one.

We were so pleased we were able to help Beth, a fellow local business owner, find her wedding dress. You can now find Beth at Rockits Sensory for your little ones down the ally behind the boutique.
